About Dean

Dean Lam joined the Board of Directors at WestBridge in May 2023. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Dean’s career trajectory has been nothing short of stellar. From 2013 to 2023, he was the Managing Director of HSBC Bank (Mauritius) Limited where he was responsible for the Commercial Banking and Global Banking businesses. He served parallelly on the Board of several subsidiary companies belonging to the HSBC Group.

He was the Vice-Chairman of the Mauritius Bankers Association from 2015 to 2017, besides being a former director of Mauritius Finance (formerly Global Finance), and a former member of the Economic sub-committee of Business Mauritius, in addition to being a member of the Mauritius Institute of Directors.

From 2000 to 2013, Dean wore several hats at HSBC in Mauritius and Hong Kong, including that of the Chief Financial Officer, Manager - International and the Head of Corporate Banking. Before hopping onboard HSBC in 2000, he worked in the Audit and Business Advisory Department of Coopers & Lybrand, London, and De Chazal Du Mée (a representative of Arthur Andersen in Mauritius).

Dean has the distinction of being on the Board of two other listed companies in Mauritius, Ascencia Limited. His vast experience spans the diverse sectors of banking, financial services, corporate finance, trade and structured finance, and business acquisitions and integration. While his extensive skills and expertise embrace key areas such as strategy development and execution, change management, team leadership, project management, analytical skills, teamwork, and problem solving.
